Spread the Good News

Some very exciting news has been buzzing around TV nation and that is the new miniseries The Bible; set to air on March 3, 2013 on the History Channel.  As a Deliver first and a preacher second, I am very excited to see this take flight.  The Bible is everything to us (believers).  It is exciting, engaging, it searches your soul and spirit, it forces you to take self evaluation, it teaches us about this God we hear so much about, it tells us about his love for his people and his just judgement in our day to day lives.

When most think of movie portrayals of the Bible  two come to mind.  Those are; The Ten Commandments and the other is the Passion of the Christ.  Both helped give visual representation of what the Bible teaches us.  Sure its not 100% accurate and neither is every translation of the Bible either, but what it should do is preach to you in a non preachy way.  No different than a sermon preached in the pulpit; a movie about the bible should be accurate and Spirit led.

One thing I do like about this showing is that the cast and crew spent time in prayer.  I mean they genuinely spent time in prayer and seeking God's direction.  People expect this show to have all Christians and they expect it to have accurate portrayals of the races of that time and all that.  Cmon people; my point of this blog post is that you take the time to watch the show and look at it objectively and openly.

The Bible teaches us in Mark 16:15 about The Great Commission (hence where i got the title of this blog) which is to go into all the world and proclaim/preach/teach the gospel to the whole creation.  That is the charge to every believer and follower of Christ.  So yes we want it to be accurate and be true to the Bible but we must remember as it says in 1Corinthians 3:7, and I am paraphrasing here, It doesn't matter who does what for God because it is God alone who grants the increase.

I really hope everyone gets to tune in, because this may be the first time for some of you to know what the Bible is about on the surface.  For some of you this may cause you to pick up your bible for the first time ever.  For some of you this may have been a secret desire, but the fear of people looking at you or maybe a church judging you unjustly has kept you from wanting to know this God of ours more.  My prayer is that you give it a shot.  I pray that it may change lives and save souls.

This show is not about entertainment, but about education and encouragement.  I will definitely be tuning in, because in my opinion you can never have too much God in your life.  Be blessed and a blessing
