H.A.L.T. - Next up is Hunger (Spiritual Warfare)

So I am still continuing on some tactics the devil uses to trip us up in spiritual warfare.  If you are just joining
this blog then thank you for coming and I pray this blog blesses you!!! If you have been here for a minute then thank you for returning and I pray this blog continues to educate, strengthen and bless you.

Last blog entry I discussed the acronym H.A.L.T.  (hungry, angry, lonely, and tired), which is an entry way into understanding some methods the devil uses to attack us.  At its crust this acronym basically means one thing; NOISE!!!! If the devil can promote enough noise to distract you then you are more vulnerable to his attacks.  Hunger is another type of noise and tool the devil uses to get at us.  Please do not think that the devil is not familiar with the inner workings of the human body.  He is not all knowing but he is an eternal spirit that has been around long enough to get a very in depth understanding of how the human body works.  When you are starving, several things happen.  You begin developing headaches, cramps, vision loss.  You become more tired for lack of energy, body doesn't function as it normally should (IE fingers don't grab as strong as they normally would).

Then you got the attack on your character and integrity happening while you're hungry.  You develop an attitude because your starving.  In your loss of energy you become tired (Remember the T in HALT) and annoyed and possibly even short with people.  In order to satisfy that hunger so it would go away; you would do almost anything.  Anything may be stealing a soda out of the companies lunch fridgerator or possibly something just sitting out not in a lunch box.  When you are hungry you begin to start compromising your morals and values and integrity for that quick relief.  Mind you it's perfectly normal for you to be feeling like this, but here's the thing.  If you don't know that the enemy will use this hunger to cause you to sin against God then really you are just a moving target with a bulls eye o your back.  I can't stress enough how real spiritual warfare is to you.  The bible says leave no room for the devil (Ephesians 2).  The HALT acronym is nothing but a bunch of holes for the enemy to use.  Now I am not saying that these potentially harmless and normal circumstances are evil but what I am saying is just as the devil uses them against you; you have the opportunity to allow God to use it to strengthen you.

The famishing of hunger doesn't set it right at the very beginning.  No it takes time and lack of sustenance to eventually reach the point of hunger and complete vulnerability.  When hunger reaches this point you are not only more vulnerable to Satan's attacks but to also Gods Holy Spirit.  You are more prone to listen to the Spirit when he speaks.  But here's the thing; if you do not develop a habit of seeking the Lord when you are at this breaking point then really all you are doing is setting yourself up to fall.  Prayer is your best weapon to combat the enemy when hunger sets in.  I would suggest remembering small verses that will help give you strength and focus.  For example:

He must increase and I must decrease (John 3:30)
If God be for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)
Be careful of your walk, not as the unwise but wise (Ephesians 5:15)

These are just a few small simple and easy to memorize scriptures that will not only help protect you, but prayerfully help you develop a hunger for more from God's word.  Spiritual warfare is real and the devil is looking to take you down.  If you realize you have not eaten in a few hours and hunger is starting to creep in, then immediately begin praying for strength until your next meal.  Focus on God giving you the strength to resist the devils attacks upon you.  And while you are at it, pray the Lord develop a heart of concern for others who are going through the exact same thing.  if you are struggling, you can guarantee others are going through the same thing somewhere else.  Maybe even closer than you may think. - Be blessed and a blessing
