Love every Body..

Learning to love this body is a growth process that the Lord has been graciously making me aware of needing to do.  This body that we have is a gift and a blessing.  I write this post because I believe if we can’t even thank God for this body that houses our mind, spirit and soul; then how can we thank him for the other great things he bestows upon us.  Plus as a Commissioned man of God it is our duty to take care of this vessel that the Lord wants to use.  See I think we get in the mindset of relinquishing responsibility of this body and turning it over to God.  I think we forget that this was the first gift he gave us and it is most important.  God gave us a body that can grow, learn, and adapt; as well as a body that can wither, decay and die.  Think about that for a second.  Look around your home or job.  There are many objects there that serve a purpose but none of them are alive.  We’ve allowed the enemy to blind us with complacency and expectancy.  We’ve become so used to having the body that we forget we have a body.  Who you are is preserved in this vessel and the Lord wants to use it on a daily basis for his purpose.  And why not?  He did after all give you the body you have.

Another thing about this body is that it is our responsibility.  In Luke 12: 48 Jesus said to whom much is given, of him shall much be required as well.  Much is given to us simotaneously in the form of life and body.  We came into being with both at the same time.  A life was formed when an embryo egg and a sperm cell joined together.  How many things can you join together and create something as magnificent as the life that reads this blog right now? We pray for ministries and homes, cars, jobs, and every other blessing but neglect to take care of the first given unto us, our bodies.  Scripture says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-20 talks about taking care of this body and protecting it.  In verses 19 and 20 it states….

Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sancutuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, from God? You are not your own.  You were bought with a price (purchased and paid for, made His own).  So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.

That pretty much sums it up plainly right there.  Our bodies were bought and paid for by Jesus Christ.  Forget the fact that he owns us anyway (Ps 24:1); but then he also paid for our body, mind and soul.  It all belongs to him.  When we deface our body with perversions and gluttonous actions we are basically saying to God “I am purposefully disrespecting this body you gave me”.  Last I check (as we just read) I do not own this body.  It’s not mine; and yet he gave the stewardship of this body to me.  Let that sink in.

How many things do you value, you all of sudden give it to someone else to hold and take care of?  How many of you do so reluctantly or nervously?  God gave each person the body they have for a reason and dubbed each one a personal caretaker of that body.  So even if the curse of sin has caused your body to decay or be with a defect; know that the body was given to you to take care of in spite of its imperfections.  Most will argue that God does not make an imperfect thing, and I would agree.  But Like the scripture says from beginning to end; these bodies will one day waste away and we will be given a new celestial perfect body.  One that will not decay and die.  But why should the Lord God give us a new body and we can’t even honor him with the decaying one we have now?  We have a duty and responsibility to show our love back to God through taking care of this body.  This body is Gift #1, blessing #1 and it deserves our attention and care.

Anything you do for the Lord is done through this body.  When you pray, serve, give, minister; all of it is done through this body.  People want to pray “Lord use this body as a living vessel” and then neglect to take care of it….  Much has been given to you and much is required of you.  Take care of your first blessing and he will bless you with more.  Show God that you can love him through proper care of the first gift you have come in contact with.  Be blessed and a blessing
