A Story unfolds without even knowing it

Out of all the characters in the show "The Game of thrones" the two I tend to like most are Tyrion Lannister and Jamie Lannister.  For anyone watching the show that would see odd that I would favor these two; seeing as TL is a lover of sex and loose women as well as wine.  And the older brother JL is a murderer and engages in incest with his sister on a repeated basis.  These two brothers despite their upfront flaws and some humanity and compassion in them.  The thing is that you only see it when times get really bad and their core character is called into question.  JL is a hasbeen knight and kingslayer.  Every now and then he goes to a chamber and stares at a book that has the conquerings of past Lannister kinsmen.  Some have conquered lands and made glorious kingdoms all in the Lannister family name.  The only thing printed about himself is that he betrayed his king and killed him.  He wants to be recognized for glory and bringing honor to the name but all he keeps bringing is shame.  He is one that does not know his identity nor purpose in life.  So until he does; he engages in incest and lies, and every other sin he can grab hold of to keep him from thinking to hard about his flaws and shortcomings.  From what I gather TL has a true heart of gold covered by years of cobwebs in sin and fornication and trying to live up to the family name; but however always coming up......short.  He is disowned by family and ridiculed for his height and his birth which ultimately killed their mother.  The only person who does not blame TL is his mother, who is dead, and his older brother JL.  These two broken souls are so much alike that I immediately become more interested when they are on the screen.  I want to see JL grow and become the man he is meant to be and not the snivling coward he is right now.  He has been showing tendencies that is shaping his character but he has not embraced it yet.  I want to see TL vindicated and finally treated with some love and respect.  His recent events has given him a new lease on life.  He doesn't know it yet, but in losing his family and finally loosening the chokehold of his father; he is now free.  At a great cost but also a future gain.

They are complete screwups in many ways yet you get glimpses of a rebirth coming through.  Acts of chivalry and courage come into play.  Compassion for others and vulnerability in other areas rear their head.  Their heinous sins are no different from my own henious sins in my life.  I have been broken and lost my family, twice.  I have been put in jail wondering how did i get here and how in the world am I ever going to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  These characters are a part of a made up story with an author controlling their every move and outcome.  Their story is written and we have yet to see it manifested.  Scripture says in Hebrews 12:2

Looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of God.

When we are born again in Christ we are new creatures.  When we were born of the flesh, our author and finisher of our life is sin and satan.  We were bounded and blinded by something we may not have personally brought upon ourselves but mankind did.  But when we are born again we are given a new author over our lives.  There is a different penmanship that is inscribed upon our hearts and it is the Holy Spirit.  Jesus Christ work on the cross is the beginning and ending.  We will see the finished work of Christ in us when he calls us home to him.  Until then, we are still being scripted by his hands.  He has a story for us that fits in his line of thinking but as long as we keep trying to take the pen back because we don't like how the story is going, or we would rather do something different. We end up halting the creative process of the Holy Spirit writing this story on our hearts.  We don't get to become because we are to busy stuck on our past way of life or what we want instead of what God wants for us.

I thank God he took hold of me and never gave up on me.  I was a Jamie Lannister and a Tywin Lannister wrapped in one sinful flesh.  It took a holy God to love me and show me a better way.  Some of you are stuck on what you were and not what you are becoming in Christ.  Always remember that God is the author and finisher of your faith.  He is the beginning of your faith and will be the ending in it to.  Be blessed and a blessing
